An opera begins long before the curtain goes up and ends long after it has come down...

A "silver and crystalline voice with amber hues".

Thanks to a remarkable and convincing stage play, a well-established vocal technique and a remarkable voice color, Mélissa Petit stands out from the age of 20 when she was engaged in the Opera studio in Hamburg in Germany from 2010 to 2013.

She was part of the ensemble of Zürich opera in Switzerland from 2015 to 2017 where she played Ännchen in Der Freischütz (Weber), Sophie in Werther (Massenet) or Créuse in Medea (Charpentier), among other roles.

She returned to the Zürich scene several times, including in the roles of Johanna Barker in Sweeney Todd (Sondheim) and Aricie in Hippolyte and Aricie (Rameau), the latter whom she also sang at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris the same year in a concert version.

In 2017, Melissa was Juliette in Romeo and Juliet (Gounod) at the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing, China. Role she took over in 2019 at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Germany.

That same year, she was Micaëla in Carmen (Bizet) at the Bregenz festival in Austria. She returned in 2020 where she played Gilda in Rigoletto (Verdi) and was a great success: several newspapers declare her "the revelation of the evening".

A few months later Melissa made a double debut as Eurydice in Orpheus and Eurydice (Glück) at the Royal Opera of Wallonia in Liège.

2020 marks her debut at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna in the new production of Fidelio (Beethoven) directed by the famous Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz, where she sang the role of Marzelline.

In the spring of 2021, she took part in the Salzburg Spring Festival in Austria to play the role of Belleza in Il Trionfo del tempo e del disinganno (Händel) in Robert Carsen's new production alongside Cecilia Bartoli. During the same period, Melissa was invited by the orchestra Le Concert de la Loge at the Bozar in Brussels, Belgium to perform Mozart's Requiem and the Mass of the coronation of Napoleon (Paisiello).

She returned to Salzburg in 2022 during the summer festival to sing Marguerite in the oratorio Jeanne d’arc au bûcher (Honnegger).

Melissa opened the 22/23 season of the Theater an der Wien in Vienna in the title role of Stefan Herheim's new production: The cunning little vixen (Janàček).

She made her debut in the role of Ginevra in Ariodante (Händel) in a concert version on a European tour alongside Franco Faggioli and accompanied by the Il Pomo d'Oro orchestra.

A few days later she began a second tour, this time alongside Cecilia Bartoli, in the role of Servilia in La Clemenza di Tito (Mozart) alongside Les Musiciens du Prince Orchestra that took her to the most beautiful halls in Europe such as the philarmonie of Paris, the Tonhalle in Zürich or the Elbphilarmonie of Hamburg. The tour was a success : "her milky and colorful voice is an enchantment".

Mélissa is the winner of many competitions: 2nd prize of the Concorso Musica sacra di Roma 2009, 1st prize of the Béziers competition, 1st prize of Bordeaux Competition Musiques au cœur du Médoc 2012, Deutsche Grammophon Prize and Musikverein prize at the Stella Maris 2012 competition, 3rd prize at the Queen Sonja competition in Oslo in 2013, 3rd prize at Paris opera Competition.
